Roy Wesley Penepacker

LEWISTOWN - Roy Wesley Penepacker, 85, of Ort Valley Road, Lewistown, passed away at 10:25 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2013, at Lewistown Hospital.

He was born March 14, 1928, in Lewistown, a son of the late Blaine and Nettie (Aultz) Penepacker. His wife of 62 years, Alice (Rupert) Penepacker, whom he married on May 21, 1946, preceded him in death on Oct. 24, 2008.

Surviving are: daughters, Gloria D. Clinger and husband, Lynwood, and Teresa K. Leister and husband, James, all of Lewistown; grandchildren, Marshall Fisher and wife, Marsha, of Dauphin, Michael Fisher, of Reedsville, David Leister and wife, Sabrina, of Winnipeg, Canada, Michelle Zarkovich and husband, Thad, of Enola, and Ajay Leister, of Baltimore; and great- grandchildren, Mackenzie, Macey, Jordyn, Kelsey, Katrina, Ashton, David, Kaylee, Brenna and Wyatt.

Roy was the last surviving member of his family, having been predeceased by brothers, Lawrence "Pete" Shehan, George Penepacker and Robert Penepacker, and sisters, Ida (Shehan) Davis, Sarah (Penepacker) Gunny, Ethel (Penepacker) Miller and Betty (Penepacker) McConathey.

Roy was a member of Lewistown Presbyterian Church and a life member of McVeytown Fire Company. Having served as fire chief and president of the fire company for many years, he was instrumental in founding the McVeytown Ambulance Company and establishing the junior firemen program.

Roy was employed by Warner-Lewis Buick and S&S Chevrolet in his earlier years, and retired from Fairmont Dean Foods. He will also be well remembered for his salesmanship talent.

He loved getting family and friends together for whatever reason. Spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren was his greatest joy.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 15, 2013, at Barr Funeral Home, Inc., 120 Logan St., with the Revs. James Thomas and Robert Zorn officiating. Interment will be in Mattawana Cemetery, McVeytown.

A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, April 14, and 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lewistown Presbyterian Church.
