To the editor:
The Board of Directors, staff, volunteers and clients of the LUMINA Center would like to express sincere appreciation to the community members and businesses who donated their time, items and cash to help make our March 16 benefit auction a tremendous success. We attribute the success of this fundraiser to our community that has so generously supported our work here not only through this auction, but throughout the years, whether through a donation to the United Way of Mifflin-Juniata who in turn supports us as a United Way agency, or through direct donations to the center. We are truly blessed and are very grateful to our community that cares so much about its youth and families.
The LUMINA Center offers free program activities to all children and youth of Mifflin County as long as they are within the age limits of the particular activity. All activities are supervised by adults who have both criminal and child abuse clearances, in our facility that remains drug/alcohol and tobacco free. The community support of our work enables us to better fulfill our mission statement: "LUMINA is a Community Center which offers the light of faith, hope and love 'to,' 'for' and 'with' the children, youth and families of Mifflin County in the name of Christ."
Once again, thank you to everyone for your support of the center and your love and concern for the children and youth of Mifflin County.
Deborah A. Wilt
LUMINA Center Director
