MIFFLINTOWN - A Tuesday meeting of the Juniata County Commissioners opened with a presentation by Donald Hurst, representative of the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, recognizing Commissioner Teresa O'Neal for her participation on the PCCD Constables' Education and Training Board.
O'Neal thanked Hurst for the recognition, saying she was appreciative of the opportunity to serve on the board.
"It's critical that small, rural counties are at the table," she said.
According to PCCD's website, the commission trains and certifies the Commonwealth's elected and appointed constables and deputy constables.
Also during the meeting, the board reviewed:
March 2013 Summary of Collections Report Fines and Costs, submitted by Magisterial District Judge Barbara Lyter.
March 2013 Juniata County Children and Youth Statistical Report, submitted by children and youth director Helen Henry.
Juniata County Sheriff Department's March 2013 monthly report, submitted by Sheriff Thomas Lyter.
Juniata County Treasurer's March 2013 monthly report, submitted by treasurer Sandra F. King.
In new business, the commissioners:
Approved the purchase of service agreement between Juniata County Children and Youth Services, the Juniata County Probation Department and Children's Aid Society of Franklin County, submitted by Henry.
Tabled an item to ratify the public defender vendor agreement between the commissioners and Nancy S. Searer.
Ratified Juniata County hazardous materials check No. 1,164 in the amount of $7,020 to Hostler Custom Woodworks for a housing rehabilitation project.
Ratified hazardous materials check No. 1,154 in the amount of $150 to Harrisburg Area Community College for Hazmat classes.
Approved checks Nos. 37,268 to 37,322 in the amount of $79,932.14.
