To the editor:
Recently one partially good thing occurred in abortion. Overall, the abortion rate decreased 8 percent in 2012 but poor women had 18 percent more abortions. And bad things continued to rear their ugly heads.
More hypocrisy from Washington, D.C. as one of the least Catholic and most pro-abortion members of Congress, Democratic Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, has been added to the official U.S. delegation to attend the installation of newly elected Pope Francis.
Pelosi was sent to join pro-abortion Vice President Joe Biden to attend the Inauguration Mass celebrating the Pontificate of His Holiness Pope Francis, which took place on March 19.
A last ditch effort by ambassadors and top U.N. officials failed to reach agreement on policies to end violence against women because powerful western developed countries want to scrap previous agreements that do not recognize abortion as a right.
After four weeks of intense negotiations, ambassadors were brought in to negotiate the late night session. The United States and European countries raised the stakes at this year's Commission on the Status of Women, a U.N. body of 45 U.N. member states that formulates policies for women, making agreement more elusive.
As the U.N. goes so does China. There were 336 Million Abortions Under China's One-Child Policy.
The health ministry in China released figures yesterday showing 336 million abortions have been carried out in the Asian nation since it first implemented the one-child population control policy.
Started in 1980, the policy, which prohibits most Chinese couples form having more than one baby and limits rural residents to two, has resulted in severe human rights abuses. Family planning officials frequently jail couples who refuse to comply, sentence them to house arrest or labor camps, revoke jobs or governmental support, use physical harassment or violence and often target other family members.
Also, Planned Parenthood continues in its anti women's efforts. A Delaware Planned Parenthood clinic experienced four botched abortion emergencies in less than five weeks and it is now coming under fire from pro-life advocates for recruiting medical students for abortion training.
