From staff reports , Lewistown Sentinel

HARRISBURG - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and Amtrak have reached an agreement to keep the Pittsburgh-to-Harrisburg passenger railroad route operating, according to a press release from Sen. Robert P. Casey's office.

The rail route was in jeopardy of closing due to new federal law that would require it to be state-funded.

The 'Pennsylvanian' line makes stops in Lewistown and Huntingdon on the route.
