Five injured in one-vehicle crash

Car strikes tree after 15-year-old loses control of vehicle

SIGLERVILLE - Two passengers are in critical condition at Geisinger Medical Center after a one-vehicle accident Sunday in Armagh Township that also injured the 15-year-old driver and two other passengers, officials report.

Vance M. Definis, 18, of Lewistown, and Frederick L. Kneisler III, 21, of Southampton, were both flown to Geisinger via medical helicopter and were listed in critical condition as of Sunday night, a nursing supervisor at the medical center said.

Pennsylvania State Police Lewistown said at 3:50 p.m., a 2003 Mazda 6 driven by Texann S. Hostetler, 15, of Lewistown, was traveling south on Siglerville Pike when Hostetler lost control of the vehicle while attempting to negotiate a left curve.

Firefighters stand next to a yellow Mazda 6 that had a door and the roof removed to free trapped passengers after a one-vehicle accident Sunday on Siglerville Pike left five people injured, according to a report from Pennsylvania State Police Lewistown.

According to the report, the vehicle struck the guide rail then traveled approximately 70 feet before it left the roadway, becoming airborne for 15 feet before striking a tree. Police said the vehicle came to rest about 54 feet off the road in a field.

Police said Hostetler and passengers Cheyanne A. Duke, 14, of Milroy, and Bradley C. Smith, 17, of Lewistown, were transported by ambulance to the Lewistown Hospital for treatment of minor to moderate injuries.

No charges were filed against Hostetler at this time pending further investigation, police said.

Police were assisted at the scene by Milroy EMS, Milroy Fire Company, Fame EMS, Reedsville Fire Company and Armagh Township Fire Police.
