ENGLEWOOD, Fla. - William Hugh Plank, 90, of Englewood, Fla., passed away on Feb. 8, 2013.
Bill was born in Belleville on July 26, 1922. He attended Belleville High School and had several jobs as a youth in Ohio prior to serving in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
He was the son of the late Samuel E. and Corinne Beiler Plank.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Warren, Phyllis and John.
Near the end of World War II he married the former Dorothy Franc, with whom he had three children: his sons, Dennis (Emily), of Virginia Beach, and Victor, of Lancaster, and daughter, Debbie (Ray) Hazleton, of Pennsylvania.
He attended the former Williamsport Technical Institute and learned the sheet metal and drafting trade that led him into the heating and air conditioning business he would follow for the 40-plus years. He resided in Williamsport until the early 1990s.
He married the former Helen Stoppa in 1974. In the early 1990s, he and Helen headed for the warmer climates of Englewood, Fla.
Bill is survived by: his wife, Helen; stepson, Bill Fagan; his children; brothers, J. Donald Plank, of Cocoa Beach, Fla. Samuel E. (Jake/Bud) Plank, of Belleville, and Betty Stuter, of Brooksville, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
