REEDSVILLE - The residents of Juniata Valley now have a swanky place to live up the nightlife at Main Street Market, in Reedsville, with the grand opening of its new Seven Mountains wine bar.
"The wine bar is something completely different that has never been seen in the area before," said Craig Rupert, general manager at Main Street Market. "The wine is offered by the glass or bottle, paired with our new tapas menu. We will also have live music every weekend."
Though the store began as a meat and seafood market when it opened last year, it has evolved into a fresh food restaurant, offering seafood steampots, soups, sandwiches and now tapas and wine. Generally, tapas are small Spanish dishes, or appetizers, Rupert said, but the Market menu includes American and Asian flavors as well.

Ellen Cramer, Seven Mountains Wine Bar manager, shows bottles of wine available for tasting Tuesday at the Main Street Market, in Reedsville. A listing of wines available for tasting is posted on the board.
"Tapas are good bar food that can be made quickly, but with good flavor, and pair well with wine," Rupert said. "And we will always have someone on hand that knows the Seven Mountains wine and can make pairing suggestions."
Rupert decided to work with Scott and Mary Ann Bubb, owners of Seven Mountains Wine Cellars, in Spring Mills, because the wine has an excellent reputation and large client base in the area. It seemed like a perfect fit, he said.
"Seven Mountains makes such a quality product and has consistently placed at the yearly Farm Show," Rupert said. "We thought their wine would be an excellent addition to what we are trying to build here."
The Bubbs agreed to open the wine bar, or satellite store, at Main Street Market as a convenience to customers that live further away from the winery, said Scott Bubb.
"Sometimes, especially in the winter months, people are concerned about driving up the mountain in the snow or the dark," Bubb said. "This way, when someone needs a good bottle of wine on a cold night, they just have to drive over to Reedsville."
The wine bar selection includes all wines currently in stock at Seven Mountains, Bubb said. Wine will also be available for purchase by the bottle or case, he added.
Main Street Market will be premiering its new wine bar and tapas menu during the grand opening hours of 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday. Both menus will be available for free tastings along with other dishes offered at the Market. Both nights will feature live music from local artists.
