To the editor:
Flanked by school children on Jan. 16, President Obama announced sweeping legislative proposals and 23 executive orders aimed at gun control.
"This is our first task as a society: Keeping our children safe. This is how we will be judged," Obama said. "We can't put this off any longer."
Then on the 40th anniversary of the Roe vs. Wade decision last week, President Obama issued a statement reaffirming the decision's commitment to "reproductive freedom" and the principle that "government should not intrude on our most private family matters, and women should be able to make their own choices."
It seems that our President is so concerned with "keeping our children safe" as long as it fits his agenda. Abortion results in around 1.3 million pre-born, childhood deaths a year in the United States. In the president's own words, how will we be judged for this?
