STRODES MILLS - Robert E. DeArment, 82, of Strodes Mills, died Jan. 23, 2013, at his home.
Born Sept. 28, 1930, in Orbisonia, Huntington County, he was a son of the late Thomas E. and Mable (Shields) DeArment.
He was preceded in death by his five brothers, seven sisters and nephew, Dennis D. Hardin.
In his early life, Robert served in the United States Army 5th Signal Company from 1951 to 1953.
During his career, he was employed by Wile Trucking and CC Trucking for a combination of more than 40 years.
Robert was a devoted uncle, raising his nephews, Kevin and Frank. Robert, "Uncle Bob," spent his later years enjoying time with his great-nephews, Dustin and Dexter Hardin, and niece, Amanda Hardin, and their children.
He is survived by his nephews and nieces, Kevin D. Hardin and wife, Kathy, of Mount Holly, N.J., Frank S. Hardin and wife, Kathy, of Massillon, Ohio, Cindy L. Hardin, of Massillon, Ohio, Dalene M. Layton and husband, Ron, of Elizabethtown, Daniel and Thomas Swartz, and Darlene Shoenfelt.
A service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at Barr Funeral Home Inc., 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Jonathan God officiating. Interment will be held in Germany Valley Cemetery, Shirleysburg.
