The Juniata Valley YMCA's third annual Polar Plunge was held Jan 12 at Greenwood Furnace State Park. More than 200 people including spectators, staff, volunteers and plungers made the trek to watch a total of 37 people, including two Little Dippers, take the plunge into 40-degree water to raise funds for youth in the community.
All proceeds generated through the event are designated toward supporting Y youth programs and activities and purchasing of supplies for the Y youth programs. By raising money, the Y then is able to continue offering programs for kids in the community at a lower cost.

The Plunge has continued to grow each year with anticipation that next more corporate teams and individuals within the community will continue to see the value in supporting the YMCA by helping to generate funds for youth programs.
Strengthening community is the Y's cause. Every day, the Y works side-by-side with neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn and grow. The Juniata Valley YMCA would like to thank the community, all individuals, corporate teams and contributors for their support in making this a great event once again for the youth in the community.
