Richard E. Graybill

McALISTERVILLE - Richard E. Graybill, 80, of McAlisterville, died at 9:02 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, in the emergency room of the Lewistown Hospital.

Born on May 20, 1932, in Monroe Twp., Juniata County, he was a son of the late Percy W. and Florence (Naylor) Graybill.

On July 1, 1967, he married his surviving wife, Ruth C. (Colyer) Graybill, with whom he shared more than 45 years of marriage.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by: one sister, Shirley Saner and her husband, Charles, of Thompsontown; and two generations of nieces and nephews.

One sister, Alice M. Ferry, and two brothers, Raymond M. Graybill and Harold E. Graybill, preceded him in death.

Richard was a member of the McAlisterville United Methodist Church, where he had at one time served as a trustee.

In earlier life, Richard worked as a farm laborer for the C.S. Graybill Hatchery and later was employed as an operating room aid at the Norristown State Hospital. After returning to Juniata County he worked for the Cocolamus Feed Mill, in addition to helping his father farm the family farm. Then after working for 30 years as a welder for PSI, in Harrisburg, he retired in 1997.

Richard was an avid Philadelphia Phillies baseball fan who enjoyed hunting and watching NASCAR races. Being a jack of all trades, he loved to tinker with anything.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at the McAlisterville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Edward D'Agostino officiating. Interment will be in the Lost Creek Mennonite Cemetery, Oakland Mills.

Viewing will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville.
