Gerald K. Foltz Sr.

LEWISTOWN - Gerald K. Foltz Sr., 89, of Lewistown, died at 2:49 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Born Sept. 23, 1923, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Dale E. and Anna (Knox) Foltz.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife, Mary Pearl (Kays) Foltz; two brothers, Robert Dale Foltz and Harry Eugene Foltz; and two daughters-in-law, Anne Marie Foltz and Jennifer Foltz.

Surviving are: his children, Gerald K. Foltz Jr., Jeffrey K. Foltz Sr., and wife, Kathleen, both of Lewistown, Stephen L. Foltz and wife, Barb, of Milroy, Curtiss D. Foltz and wife, Jean, of Yeagertown, Anthony D. Foltz Sr. and wife, Donna, of Harrisburg, Byron T. Foltz and wife, Bonnie, Jonathan M. Foltz and wife, April, both of Lewistown; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by siblings, Jacqueline Boyden, of Granville, Geraldine Miller and husband, Charles, of Lewistown, Florence Bilger and husband, Darle, of Orbisonia, Dorothea Shawver and husband, Tony, of Lewistown, Edwina Hess, of Mechanicsburg, and Anna Louise James, of McVeytown.

Gerald was a 1941 graduate of Lewistown High School, served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a 157th combat engineer battalion.

He was a member of Granville United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge 203 F&AM, of Lewistown.

Early in life, he worked at Haws Refractory and later at Standard Steel, retiring in 1988.

He loved his children and grandchildren and was an avid football fan, especially Penn State.

A funeral service with VFW Post 7011 honors will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at Granville United Methodist Church, 1346 N. River Road, Granville, with the Rev. G. Edward "Ted" Corcelius officiating.

A viewing will be held from 4 p.m. until the time of the service Sunday, at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Granville United Methodist Church, PO Box 142, Granville, PA 17029.

Arrangements are under the care of Heller- Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Inc., Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.
