MIFFLINTOWN - The new Bargain Barn building opens for business on Thursday at the original location of 1687 William Penn Highway, Mifflintown.
The previous building burned down on July 26 after a rack of clothing caught on fire. As local fire crews worked to control the flames, the building was destroyed, said Mifflintown Fire Co. Chief Tom Lyter.
After a few months working out of the Bargain Barn furniture outlet on Cedar Spring Road, co-owners Greg Allison and John Robinson have begun erecting shelves and moving merchandise into the new building this week.
Though the store will not be filled to capacity, customers are welcome to continue their holiday shopping when the store opens on Thursday, Allison said. The new Bargain Barn is a bit bigger, includes a second floor and is handicapped accessible, he added.
The Bargain Barn is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The furniture outlet is open Saturday by appointment from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The store can be reached by phone at 436-8808.
