McALISTERVILLE - William M. Lunger, 88, of McAlisterville, died at 3:35 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2012, at his home.
Born on Feb. 27, 1924, in Marcus Hook, Delaware County, he was a son of the late Walter and Edna (Jackson) Lunger. On June 15, 1946, he married his late wife, Amelia (Kelly) Lunger, with whom he shared nearly 63 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on Feb. 21, 2009.
Surviving are: his children, William M. Lunger and his wife, Elsie, of Denver, Pa., Cindy A. Davis and her husband, Earl, of McAlisterville, and Eric K. Lunger, of Mifflintown; six grandchildren, Aaron Lunger, Megan Baum, William Lunger, Jessica Zettle, Ethan Davis and Greg Lunger; and three great-grandchildren, Aaron Lunger Jr., Brooke Baum and Wyatt Zettle.

He is the last of his generation, having been preceded in death by one brother, Ray Lunger.
Mr. Lunger proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in northern France and later worked as a machinist for the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard for 31 years, retiring in 1973.
William had a knack for organization and a gift for working with wood. He and his wife enjoyed traveling, especially their annual trip to Florida.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with the Rev. Edward D'Agostino officiating. Interment will follow in Union Memorial Gardens, Mifflintown, where the Juniata County Veterans Council will accord full military burial honors.
A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service Monday, at the funeral home.
