McVEYTOWN - Sara M. Smith, 88, of Licking Creek Road, McVeytown, died at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at Lewistown Hospital.
Born June 21, 1924, in Bratton Township, she was a daughter of the late Israel Z. and Rose (Miller) Harshbarger. Her husband, John B. Smith, preceded her in death.
Surviving are: daughter, Patricia A. Heister and husband, Darwin, of McVeytown; two sisters, Gladys Rosenberg, of Wisconsin, and Pearl Boozel, of McVeytown; granddaughter, Lori Turner and husband, Christian; great- granddaughter, Kali Harshbarger; and two nephews, whom she helped raise, William Harshbarger, of McVeytown, and Richard Harshbarger, of Lancaster.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Olive Shotzberger, Hazel Grassmyer, Della Ritchey and Betty Stewart.
A homemaker, she was a member of the Pine Glen Church of the Brethren and enjoyed visiting and making crafts with her niece, Rose Stewart, and her nephew, Steve Stewart.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at the Pine Glen Church of the Brethren, with Pastor Donald E. Peters officiating. Interment will be held in Pleasant View Cemetery, Mattawana.
Friends may call from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service Monday, at the church.
