Fast start propels Line Mountain

December 13, 2012
From staff reports , Lewistown Sentinel

MIDDLEBURG - Line Mountain jumped out to a 20-0 lead in the first quarter and Midd-West was unable to get back into the game, falling in the non-league boys basketball contest Wednesday, 62-50.

The Eagles had two players break the 20-point scoring margin in the game, while the Mustangs struggled to find the basket. It was the opposite of Midd-West's opener, which snapped a lengthy losing streak.

"The way our shooting was Friday night, it was worse tonight. I think it was just mental," Midd-West coach Brent Bobb said, attributing it to the difficulty of staying up after a big win. "They were just half a step slower tonight than they were Friday night."

Dyllan Folk led the Mustangs with 13 points. Kahill Brooker and Eli Stem chipped in 10 apiece.

Midd-West won the JV game, 68-57, behind an impressive 38-point performance by Andrew Karchner.

The Mustangs (1-1), begin their Heartland Conference schedule Tuesday at Danville.
