UNIVERSITY PARK - Penn State football players continue to receive honors for their work both on and off the field, as on Thursday senior defensive end Pete Massaro and junior guard John Urschel made 2012 first-team Capital One Division I Academic All-America Team.
Massaro and Urschel were Penn State's 50th and 51st all-time football players to earn the honor.
"It's an awesome feeling," stated Massaro on his second Academic All-America selection. "I actually had this date circled on my calendar. This is one of the things you work for when you are a college student-athlete. It's a fantastic feeling."
Senior linebacker Gerald Hodges also earned an award on Thursday after The Brooks-Irvine Memorial Football Club of South Jersey announced Hodges as the New Jersey Division I College Player of the Year.
Hodges is a graduate of the Paulsboro High School in Cherry Hill, N.J., where he will receive the award on Dec. 10.
