BELLEVILLE - Sarah C. (Traxler) Smith, 83, of 210 Second St., Apartment 17, Belleville, died at 10:10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at Westminister Woods, in Huntingdon.
Born Feb. 14, 1929, in McAlevy's Fort, she was a daughter of the late Charles H. and Ida E. (Hertzler) Traxler. Her husband, George "Tucker" Smith, whom she married on Feb. 20, 1947, preceded her in death on May 30, 1993.
Surviving are: children, Jeanne M. (Smith) Seidel, of Thomasville, Ray M. Smith, of Mill Creek, Glenn M. Smith and wife, Ann, of Belleville, and Dale T. Smith and wife, Kathy, of Hesston; grandchildren, William Seidel, Phillip Seidel, Tina Filbey, Michelle Yorks, Shannon Fultz and Ellissa Lane; sisters, Elsie (Traxler) Forshey, Nancy (Traxler) Brown and Mary Lou (Traxler) Holland; and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Joanne M. Smith, and a brother, Albert Traxler.
Sarah graduated from Huntingdon High School in 1946. She was primarily a homemaker. She was a member of Allensville Presbyterian Church and she enjoyed quilting and knitting.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at Henderson Funeral Home, with Pastor George "Buddy" Baird officiating. Burial will be held in Allensville Presbyterian Cemetery.
A viewing will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Monday, at the funeral home.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
