"We had a huge line," store manager Jim Grant said. "We had people from our door all the way to the Weis store."
Grant said the items that were purchased a lot and early were women's scarves, men's jeans, men's flannels and pillows.
"We definitely had more traffic this year. We had long lines consistently through the day," Grant said.
Grant said they had a button promotion this year that will extend through Dec. 24. Two buttons will be given to each customer for entering the store along with a card to give directions to the website.
JCPenney is giving away 100 free vacations to different cities in the U.S., jewelry and gift cards. Customers must enter the code from the button on JCPenney's website in order to have a chance to win.

She said the people in line were respectful of each other. Kmart held a 3-day sale which started Thursday and ends today. Electronics were the hot commodity and were off the shelves fast.
