The United Way of Mifflin-Juniata has reached $243,050 of its goal of $600,000 during the campaign that began on Sept. 19 and runs until March 15, 2013.
The Mifflin/Juniata Dental Clinic is one of the agencies that benefits from working with the United Way. Executive Director Donna Kinslow explains how partnering with the United Way has served the Mifflin/Juniata Dental Clinic:
"The United Way has been involved with the Mifflin/Juniata Dental Clinic since the early stages of planning and funding prior to its opening in 2001. The initial impetus for the foundation of the clinic was to address the oral health needs of low income children. Since then, the clinic has served over 7,700 patients in Mifflin and Juniata counties and has expanded to serve adult patients as well.

"The United Way has been a valuable resource to help us collaborate with the many agencies that also serve patient populations such as those in the Mifflin/Juniata Special Needs Center, LUMINA Center, scouting programs and the United Way's own Success by Six program. In addition, the United Way offers administrative support and helps us network for additional funding sources.
"Thanks to the consistent support from the community and the United Way, we have been able to accommodate many new patients in our new, expanded and accessible facility in the Compass Center. Our vision is that every person in our community deserves to have a place where they can access oral health care. The United Way is a key player in supporting our goals and helping us improve the health of our community."
