Merrell D. Himes

MILROY - Merrell D. Himes, 99, of Milroy, died at 7:53 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at Valley View Haven, Belleville.

Born Aug. 3, 1913, in Portage, he was a son of the late Chester L. and Bertha M. (Clark) Himes.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie (Dick) Himes, on June 2, 1991.

Also preceding him in death were: two brothers, Paul and Lewis Himes; one sister, Iome McVicker; and a daughter-in-law, Pamela Himes.

He is survived by: son, Neil C. Himes, of Belleville; two grandchildren, Steven Himes and Gina, and Natisha Fultz and Fred; seven great- grandchildren, Taylor, Logan, Cassie, Cody, Addison, Bree and Clayton.

Merrell was co- owner/operator of Himes 322 Service Station, in Milroy, from 1955 to 1984.

He was a member of the Church Hill United Methodist Church, Milroy Lions Club, Blue Juniata Choir, Siglerville, Men's Club, Pennsylvania Firemen's Association, U.C.T. and Retired School Employee's.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at Church Hill United Methodist Church, Woodland Circle, Reedsville, with the Revs. Gerald Peachey and Jean Ward officiating. Interment will take place in Church Hill Cemetery.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at Heller- Hoenstine Funeral Homes Inc., 108 First Ave., Burnham.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Milroy Lions, c/o Don H. Wagner, 508 Woodland Road, Reedsville, PA 17084, or Church Hill United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 72, Reedsville, 17084.
