LEWISTOWN - Sara K. Smith-Bartlebaugh, 87, of Milroy, passed from this life on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at Golden Living Center William Penn, in Lewistown.
Born on Aug. 25, 1925, in Coburn, Sara was a daughter of the late William and Annie Bohn Brandt.
On Aug. 10, 1940, she married Leon "Jack" Smith Sr., who preceded her in death, in 1967. A few years later she then married John W. Bartlebaugh, who also preceded her in death, in 1999.
Sara is survived by: one daughter, Peggy F. Caldwell (Bill), of Milroy; two sons, Leon "Jim" Smith Jr. (Susie), of Millheim, and Gary W. Smith (Tish), of Centre Hall; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Sara is the last of her family, having been preceded in death by three brothers.
Sara was a homemaker all her life, working diligently to raise her family. She enjoyed camping, flower arranging and sewing. She was an avid animal lover, often taking in injured animals or birds to care for. Most of all, Sara enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She is of the Methodist faith and was a former member of the St. James United Methodist Church, in Coburn.
There will be a public graveside service held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at Fairview Cemetery, in Millheim, with Pastor Mike Stein officiating.
