MIFFLIN - Richard A. "Dick" Whitesel, 64, of Mifflin, died at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at his home.
Born on Sept. 5, 1948, in Monroe Township, Juniata County, he was a son of the late Paul V. and Dorothy (Ritchie) Whitesel.
Surviving are: two sons, Jesse A. Whitesel and his wife, Crystal, of East Waterford, and Jason A. Whitesel and his wife, Joy, of Spruce Hill; a step- daughter, Lori J. Long and her husband, Stephen, of Mifflin; siblings, Harold "Jim" Whitesel, of Elkins, W.Va., Harold Strunk, George Taylor, both of Lewistown, Palmer Taylor, James Whitesel, both of Millerstown, David Welsh, of Georgia, Esther Dunn, of Mifflin, Gloria Arnold, of East Waterford, Geraldine Page, of Harrisburg, and Madeline Russell, of Texas; and he leaves behind two precious granddaughters, Janessa Whitesel and Zoey Whitesel.
Two brothers, Raymond Strunk and John Kratzer, as well as two sisters, Anna Lauver and Mary Wagner, preceded him in death.
Mr. Whitesel had been employed by Empire Kosher Poultry, Inc., Mifflintown.
Dick was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting. He also enjoyed collecting guns, square dancing and spending time with his family, especially his cherished granddaughters.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with the Rev. Dennis Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in the McCullochs Mills Cemetery, Honey Grove.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at the funeral home.
