Beth Norman, fifth grade teacher, drops a container holding an egg from a bucket truck to the ground Thursday at Mountain View Elementary School. Fifth grade students at the school used a minimum of four unique packing materials to design containers that would protect an egg from cracking as it hit the ground. Students were also required to write a persuasive piece defending their choice of packing materials, and calculate the average speed at which each container fell. Some of the packing materials used were peanut butter, fabric, salt, cotton, icing and Crisco.
