LEWISTOWN - Oscar R. Brown, 82, of Lewistown, died at 6:12 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at York Hospital.
Born Aug. 19, 1930, in Lewistown, he is the son of the late George and Esther (Rager) Brown.
He is survived by his wife, H. Jean (Thompson) Brown, whom he married on Nov. 27, 1958.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: children, Suzann Keiser and her husband, Donald, of Mount Union, and Matthew Brown and his husband, Donald McLaughlin, of Waynesboro; sister, Barbara Stringfellow and her husband, Melvin, of Lewistown; one grandchild, his pride and joy, Sarah Elizabeth Keiser; and two stepgrandchildren, Gregory and Bethany Keiser.
He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Oscar was a 1949 graduate of Lewistown High School, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict, worked at American Viscose, and Standard Steel and retired from Masland. Later, he was the proprietor of Brown's Upholstery.
Oscar was a member of Pine Glen Church of the Brethren, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Mifflin County Library.
Oscar loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and was an avid reader.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Douglas Sherlock officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home.
Interment with VFW Post 7011 honors will take place in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.
