YEAGERTOWN - A request to change Derry Township Community Park back to its original name of Kishocoquillas Park was brought up at a Monday meeting of the Derry Township Board of Supervisors.
Paul Fagley recently wrote a book entitled "Memories of Kishacoquillas" and showed a copy to the Board of Supervisors during a public comment segment at the meeting. Fagley spoke about the history and how it was named Kishocoquillas Park in 1919. Fagley also mentioned that when he was talking to people to gather information for the book, many people wanted the name of the park to go back to
"Kish Park."
Fagley took it upon himself to request a change in park name back to its original and the board of supervisors said it "welcomed" the idea. Further action may take place at future meetings, the board said.
