Juniata County CROP Walk yields thousands

October 30, 2012
Lewistown Sentinel

To the editor:

On Oct. 7, Juniata County CROP Walkers raised $10,627 to fight hunger and improve the living conditions of people overseas and locally. Twenty-five percent of our walk proceeds will be split between the Juniata County Food Pantry and Juniata County Meals on Wheels.

This event would not be possible without the help of many people. Thanks are extended to the Walker Township Park Committee for allowing us to hold the walk at their track. The Juniata County Business and Professional Women helped with refreshments and games. Walkers enjoyed apples donated by Countryside Market and fresh popcorn made by Stacie Kint and Sam and Linda Leister.

Thanks also go to Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, Abundant Blessings, the Juniata County Ministerium, the registration teams and to all participating churches, donors and walkers from our communities.

Your faithful support is greatly appreciated. Be sure to join us for next year's event, which will be our 40th walk. We expect that at that time, we will be breaking the $500,000 mark for our county's total contributions over those 40 years.
