MOUNT UNION - Ashlyn Drake finished her high school career in style.
The Mount Union senior captain topped the 1,000-assist mark and led the Trojans to a season-ending 5-2 win over Claysburg-Kimmel Wednesday in volleyaball action.
Drake had 13 service points for Mount Union (11-9) to go along with 13 from Brya Crawley and 14 from Marissa Dimoff.
"She was our captain this year and a huge leader for us," Mount Union coach Tessa McCormick said of Drake. "We're going to need to find someone to fill that role for us next year."
The Trojans were up 2-0 early and looked like they would end the year with a 3-0 win. But Claysburg came crawling back. Eventually, Mount Union found its stride and won the fifth game, 15-9.
"I think we just relaxed too much," McCormick said. "The seniors were emotional. They were enjoying themselves but relaxed too much. That's when they started taking advantage of our lack of effort."
The Trojans will lose Drake, Dimoff, Brittany Knable and Aly Kyler.
"They were players we depended on," McCormick said. "They played aggressive and did their jobs."
