Says Romney will point ship in the right direction

October 23, 2012
Lewistown Sentinel

To the editor:

The old adage goes, "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." The American people are not fools.

They diligently watch their electric bills, heating bills and gasoline bills as they continue to climb and then they see you closing coal power plants, thwarting new attempts at drilling and canceling the Keystone Pipeline and they wonder when you will stop lying to them.

They see you dictate onerous regulations and raise taxes that create a harsh environment to start or continue to do business in this country and then they hear you attack those entrepreneurs for being exporters of jobs and they wonder when you will stop lying to them.

They hear you say things like "you didn't build that" and they wonder when you will stop lying to them.

They hear you continue to blame the previous administration for all of the economic woes and they wonder when you will stop lying to them.

They look at the $16 trillion national debt and hear you blame it on the rich not paying their "fair share" of taxes and they wonder when you will stop lying to them.

They hear you say that Obamacare is not a tax and then you win your argument before the Supreme Court that it is a tax and they wonder when you will stop lying to them.

They see you force churches and their affiliates to pay for medical procedures that go against their religious teachings and they wonder when you will stop lying to them.

They see the family of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry search for answers to his death while serving to protect them and then they hear you invoke executive privilege to stop anyone from investigating it and they wonder when you will stop lying to them.

They see their Libyan ambassador and his detail grotesquely raped and murdered and then they hear you blame it on a movie and they wonder when you will stop lying to them.

The American people don't like being lied to and they will stop the lies by electing Mitt Romney in an historic defeat. The American people see their country as a ship in a storm and that they are nearing the edge of a very large abyss and the captain of that ship is lying to them and calling for full steam "Forward."

It is not that they believe Mitt Romney is their modern-day Abraham Lincoln, but they believe that Mitt Romney will do the only thing left to do and that is to turn the ship around and face those monstrous waves head-on, together. Because they know in the end that things will not be the same as they are now, but they believe that they will be better.

The American people only need to show up and vote.
