Mildred M. ‘Mid’ Skipper

MOUNT UNION - Mildred M. "Mid" Skipper, 91, of 104 W. Chestnut St., Mount Union, went to be with the Lord at 1:33 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at her home.

Mrs. Skipper was born on Nov. 10, 1920, in Vineyard, Mifflin County, a daughter of the late Frank and Maggie (Warnick) Woods.

She was married to Samuel C. Skipper on May 16, 1940, in Mount Union.

Mr Skipper preceded her in death on Aug. 27, 1986.

She is survived by: two children, Samuel C. Skipper Jr., and wife, Denise, of Mount Union, and Virginia L. "Ginny" Skipper, of Mount Union; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and eight great-greatgrand- children.

She also cared for three special "grandchildren," Tonya, Ashlee and Amber.

There are two sisters surviving: Mary Connelly, of Flint, Mich., and Virginia Reed, of Silverford Heights, Mount Union.

She also was preceded in death by: a son, Thomas W. Skipper Sr.; an infant daughter; and siblings, Genevieve Wharton, Clarence Woods, Senora Snouffer, John Woods, George Woods, Paul Woods Sr., James Woods, Rita Myers, Jessie Benner Price, Julia Yocum and two infants.

She attended the Mount Union schools.

Mrs. Skipper retired from J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, and had also worked for Juniata College, Huntingdon, and Robin Footwear, Mount Union.

She was an active member of the Christian Missionary Alligance Church, Mount Union, where she was a Sunday school teacher and deaconess.

She also was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed baking.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at the CMA Church, Mount Union, with Pastor Steve Motter officiating. Interment will be in Haven Rest Memorial Park, Croghan Pike, Shirleysburg.

Friends may call at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service, Wednesday, at the church.
