McCLURE - Jack E. Hess, 85, of McClure, passed away at 11:13 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at Lewistown Hospital.
He was born on Nov. 27, 1926, in Lewistown, a son of the late Vinton L. and Mary J. (Hess) Hess. On April 16, 1949, he married Joan E. (Pheasant) Hess, who preceded him in death on Oct. 2, 2008.
Jack attended Lewistown High School. After school, he served in the Navy during World War II.

He owned and operated Jack E. Hess General Contractor, in Burnham, for more than 40 years.
Mr. Hess attended Trinity Lutheran Church, in McClure.
Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing and was very gifted in woodworking. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by: one son and daughter-in-law, Michael E. and Sharon S. Hess, of McClure; one daughter, Sandra J. Snook, of McClure; five grandchildren, Nichole B. Prescott, Billi J. Hess, Andrew R. Snook, Joshua D. Straub and Jenna D. Williams; eight great-grandchildren, Mercedes, Nicholas, Matthew, Kaili, Deven, Noah, Jayden and Landon; one brother, Leroy Hess, of Lewistown; and one sister, Eileen Lindsey, of Tennessee.
In addition to his wife, Jack was preceded in death by one sister, Lillian Seiber.
Friends and family will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, at the Pheasant Funeral Home, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, at Trinity Lutheran Church, in McClure. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Lisa Schuster officiating.
Burial will be in the McClure Union Cemetery.
