McVEYTOWN - Virginia R. Harshbarger, 83, of McVeytown, died at 9:35 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at Lewistown Hospital.
Born Nov. 11, 1928, in Bratton Township, she was a daughter of the late Harry E. and Sylvia E. (Rebman) Rittenhouse Sr. Her husband, Joseph E. Harshbarger, preceded her in death on July 9, 1994.
She is survived by: a daughter, Betty Lou Spickler and husband, Ronald, of McVeytown; four siblings, James O. Rittenhouse and wife, Dorothy, of McVeytown, Mary M. Maxwell, of Mattawana, Hazel F. Fisher and husband, Max, of Lewistown, and Charles L. Rittenhouse and wife, Anna Mary, of Lewistown; four grandchildren, Doug, Jeff and Kurt Spickler and Wendy Bulick; eight greatgrandchildren, Chad, Kati, Adam, Kirsten, Ryan and Joseph Spickler and Colton and Harrison Bulick; and one great-great- grandson, Bentley Spickler.
She was preceded in death by eight siblings, Ruth E. Ronk, Zana L. Hesser, Harry E. Rittenhouse Jr., Paul M. Rittenhouse, Esther M. Grassmyer, Helen J. Espigh, Gladys R. Bartlett and Thelma A. Rittenhouse.
Virginia was a homemaker, and a member of the Pine Glen Church of the Brethren.
She was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan. She enjoyed spending time with her family the most.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 S. Market St., McVeytown, with the Rev. Rick Bender officiating. Interment will be in Pine Glen Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday, at the funeral home.
