LANCASTER - Janelle Swartz and Lauren Lock each scored in the second half to lift Juniata to a 2-0 Tri-Valley League win over Lancaster Country Day Saturday.
Juniata coach Brian Strawser said the first half was a little bit sluggish.
"It was kind of a slow, sluggish start in the first half for us," he said. "It was evenly played in the first."
After the scoreless start, Swartz buried the opening score less than five minutes into the closing half. Ten minutes later, Lock got a feed from Lauren Baublitz for an insurance goal for the Indians.
"In the second half we definitely picked up the tempo and getting that first goal really opened it up for us," Strawser said. "We controlled things from there."
Juniata's Joelle Winey had 12 saves in the win.
Juniata (8-4, 6-1) travels to East Juniata Tuesday.

Perry County Tournament
ELLIOTSBURG - Greenwood's boys soccer team got a pair of wins Saturday to secure a title in the Perry Country Tournament.
The first win - a 6-0 rout of Susquenita - was anchored by three goals from Josh Ferguson. The second win was a 3-1 decision over West Perry.
In the championship game, Ferguson added another goal to go along with Hunter Wirth and Aaron Smith.
"We were a little raggedly in the first half," Greenwood coach Tom Magill said. "We picked it up in the second half."
Magill wanted to praise the play of Jarrett Fortenbaugh and Smith
"Fortenbaugh created a lot of problems," Magill said. "He and Aaron Smith were a big reason why we won."
Greenwood (11-2, 7-2) hosts Upper Dauphin today.
Midd-West 3, Shikellamy 0
MIDDLEBURG - Midd-West got a pair of goals from Tanner Ebright in the first half to get off to a quick start and finish off Heartland Conference foe Shikellamy 3-0 Saturday in boys soccer.
Ebright's first tally came with 26 minutes to play in the opening frame. He added his second with five minutes remaining. Midd-West's only second half goal came from Tyler Arbogast. The goal was assisted by Ebright.
Midd-West (8-5, 7-3) travels to Danville Tuesday.
Lancaster Country Day 2, Juniata 1
LANCASTER - Lancaster Country Day scored a pair of goals just one minute apart in the first half to take down Juniata, 2-1, in Tri-Valley League boys soccer action Saturday.
Ryan Myers scored five minutes in for Lancaster Country Day. Then, one minute later, Niall Bailey scored to put the Cougars up by two.
Juniata's Jose Lopez answered with two minutes to play in the first half. He was assisted by Chantz Imes.
There was no scoring in the second half.
Juniata (4-8) travels to Huntingdon today.
Field hockey
State College 1, Greenwood 0
STATE COLLEGE - The game couldn't have been much closer.
And for State College's field hockey team, that's just the way it likes it. Greenwood only had four shots on the cage en route to a 1-0 loss at the hands of the Little Lions.
State College's Megan Wandrisco scored midway through the second half to break a scoreless tie and hand Greenwood its second loss of the season.
The Wildcats had four shots on goal to State College's five. Penalty corners were even at six.
Greenwood (10-2-1) travels to Line Mountain Tuesday.
