Police: Local state trooper injured in motorcycle crash

MIFFLINTOWN - A state trooper was injured when thrown from his motorcycle in a crash Friday afternoon near the Sheetz Store on state Route 35 in Fermanagh Township, Pennsylvania State Police Lewistown report.

Police said Trooper Jason L. Holland was riding a 2006 Harley Davidson FLH TPI Electra Glide and was traveling north on state Route 35 when a 2008 Mercury Sable driven by Edna H. Lightner, 84, of York, pulled out from the Sheetz parking lot into Holland's path.

According to the report, Holland's machine collided with Lightner's car in the northbound lane on state Route 35.

Police said Holland was thrown from the motorcycle and launched over Lightner's car, landing on the road.

Police said Holland was transported to Lewistown Hospital for treatment and Lightner was treated at the scene and released.

Police were assisted at the scene by Mifflintown Fire Company, Central Juniata EMS and Port Royal EMS.
