MIFFLINTOWN - Bernice I. Miller, 89, formerly of Mifflintown, died at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2 2012, at Richfield Senior Living and Rehab Center, Richfield.
Born April 29, 1923, in Spruce Hill, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Dewey C. and Mary (Yohn) Strassburger. Her husband, Andrew I. Miller, preceded her in death on July 20, 2000.
She was the last of her family. She is survived by her sister-in-law Shirley L. Bush and husband, Raymond, of Mechanicsburg.
She was a 1941 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown. During World War II, she held a civil service position at Randolph Field Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
Bernice was a 1951 graduate of Lewistown Hospital School of Nursing and was employed as a registered nurse by the Lewistown Hospital until 1957.
Later she worked for Standard Steel, in Burnham, as an industrial nurse until her retirement in 1984.
She was a member of the Cedar Grove Brethren in Christ Church, Mifflintown, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was also a member of the Lewistown Nurses' Alumni Association.
Interment was in the Lower Tuscarora Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Academia. Memorial contributions may be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship, P.O. Box 168, Mifflintown, PA 17059 or to Pets Come First, P.O. Box 493, Lemont, PA 16851.
