LEWISTOWN - Barbara Jane Swisher, 76, of 708 Harvard St., Lewistown, died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at her home.
Born Jan. 16, 1936, in Yeagertown, she was the daughter of the late Bertha J. (Rhodes) Woodling.
Barbara is survived by: her husband, Wilson R. Swisher, whom she married on Aug. 26, 1953; her daughters, Tina K. Fultz and husband, David, of Lewistown, and Marcia A. Musser and husband, Nolan, of Lewistown; and her granddaughter, Mandy M. Taccino and husband, Kevin, of Carlisle.
She is also survived by her brother, Larry E. Woodling and wife, Sondra, of Mifflintown, and her sister, Sally A. Peachey and husband, Leroy, of Lewistown.
She was preceded in death by a brother, James W. Woodling.
She was a 1953 graduate of Derry Township High School.
Barbara loved gospel music and had a special talent for playing the piano and the accordion. She played the piano at the Assembly of God Church from the time she was 14 until a few years ago.
She was a leader of the youth group at the church during the 1960s and more recently, she was choir director for a few years.
She was creative and artistic and loved to decorate the church for the different seasons, especially Christmas.
More than anything though, she loved her family and her home. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Her funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at the Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., with the Rev. Dennis Sproull officiating. Interment will be in Lind Memorial Cemetery.
There will be no public viewing; however, her family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
