To the editor:
On behalf of the members of the Mifflin County High School Marching Band I would like to thank all the band alumni who participated in the first Mifflin County Band Alumni Reunion held this past Friday night at Mitchell Field in conjunction with the MCHS Homecoming Celebration. I would especially like to thank the members of the Reunion Committee who spent countless hours organizing and preparing for the event. The person most responsible for organizing the reunion is the committee chairperson, Jenny Barron Landis. Without her guidance, motivation and determination and the committee's hard work and dedication the reunion would never have taken place.
The fact that over 75 former band members returned for the reunion is a testament that the time they spent in their high school band was a worthwhile experience. I would be remiss if I did not recognize the influence all the music teachers, from elementary school through high school, who taught those alumni, had on their students. Even though I was the director who was fortunate enough to have conducted the combined alumni and MCHS bands, all the former music teachers deserve to share the credit for producing such fine musicians.
In closing I would like to encourage all former high school band members to join us for the next Mifflin County Band Alumni Reunion.
