LEWISTOWN - Clifton H. Bell Jr., 74, of Lewistown, died at 5:15 a.m. Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at the Lewistown Hospital.
Born on Oct. 9, 1937, in Charleston, S.C., he was the son of the late Clifton H. Sr. and Billie Katherine (Hall) Bell Smith.
Surviving is his wife, Nancy J. (Bickel) Bell, whom he married on April 13, 1958.
Also surviving are: children, Clifton H. Bell III and wife, Penney, of Lewistown, and Karen L. Mensel, of Whitsett, N.C.; three grandchildren, Renee Bell, of Maryland, and Bradley Bell and Tenicia Bell, of Lewistown; and three great-grandchildren, Jazmyne, Averanna, and Ezra.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Bell, and one sister, Shirley Butterfield.
Clifton served in the U.S. Marines from 1956 to 1959 and retired from Standard Steel in Oct. 1999.
He was associated with Grove United Methodist Church and Juniata Valley Amateur Radio Club, and was a former member of USWA and the Moose. He volunteered with Operation Life Saver and Meals on Wheels and he enjoyed photography.
A private graveside service with VFW Post 7011 honors will be held at Juniata Memorial Park.
A public memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Grove United Methodist Church with Pastor Theresa Fink officiating.
