LEWISTOWN - Clair M. Johnson, 81, of Lewistown, died at 12:23 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at Golden Living Center William Penn.
Born on Aug. 10, 1931, in Hawstone, he was the son of the late James F. and Eleanor (Wise) Johnson.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia (Yocum) Johnson, whom he married on June 7, 1952.
Also surviving are: children, Clair L. Johnson and wife, Nancy, and Eileen G. Smith and husband, John J., both of Lewistown; brother, Carl Johnson and wife, Betty, of Mifflintown; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: three brothers, Bernard, Kenneth, and John C. Johnson; two sisters, Margie Shoemaker and Annabell Parks; grandson, Clair Barnett Lukens; and granddaughter, Shawnee Treaster.
Clair was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1952 to 1954 in the Korean Conflict.
Early in life he worked at Haws Refractories, and later, he was the owner and operator of Clair M. Johnson Mobile Home and Furnace Repairs.
He was a protestant by faith.
Clair loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, planting his tomatoes and all the wildlife at his home.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with Pastor George Clarke officiating.
A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30, at the funeral home.
Interment, with VFW Post 7011 honors, will take place in Lind Memorial Cemetery.
