LEWISTOWN - Ryan S. Hackett, 39, of Lewistown, passed away peacefully in the presence of his family, Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on April 25, 1973. He was the son of Sharon and William Goshorn, of Mifflintown, and Wayne and Bonnie Hackett, of Lewistown.
In addition to his parents he is survived by: sisters, Tara Goshorn, of Chicago, Ill., Andrea Hoven, of Sun Prairie, Wis., and JoEllen Bitzer, of Dillsburg; brother, Robert "Rob" Opie, of Lewistown; his maternal grandmother, Pauline Clinger, of Lewistown; and paternal grandfather, Sam Goshorn, of Thompsontown. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by: his grandmothers, Elizabeth Hackett and Helen Goshorn; and grandfathers, Robert Hackett and Frank Clinger.
He was a 1992 graduate of Juniata High School and previously worked at the Giant Food store, in Lewistown. He attended Trinity United Church of Christ and he was a member of the Mifflin County Model Railroad Club. He also had a special passion for birds and flowers.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Barr Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Shupe officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Lind Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mifflin County Model Railroad Club, 3 W Monument Square, Suite LL, Lewistown, PA 17044; Hospice the Bridge, 305 W Fourth St, Lewistown, PA 17044; the Mifflin County Library, 123 N Wayne St, Lewistown, PA 17044; or to any church of the donor's choice.
