LEWISTOWN - Arthur M. "Jack" Hower Jr., 85, of Lewistown, died on Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at Lewistown Hospital.
Jack was born on Dec 10, 1926, in Mifflintown, and was the son of the late Arthur M. Sr. and Martha (Bashore) Hower. He is survived by his wife, Shirley R. (Havice) Hower, who he married in 1948.
He is also survived by: his sons, Robert "Bob" Hower, of Lewistown, and Mark Hower, of California; sister, Joann Noerr, of Lewistown; grandchildren, Andrew and Jason Hower, and Annette Kerstetter and husband, James; great-grandchildren, Cody and Haley Hower, and James and Laydon Kerstetter.
He was preceded by a sister, Joyce Kerstetter.
Jack owned Howers Modern Cleaners for 30 years and was last employed by Walmart for 12 years.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps having served during World War II. Jack was also a member of the Air Force Association.
Jack was an avid hunter and fisherman in his early years. Later in life, he enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles. He was also a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies.
Jack resided in Meadowview Manor, in McVeytown, for the past year.
The services will be private.
