Pro-life group to take part in Life Chain in October

September 15, 2012
Lewistown Sentinel

To the editor:

Why do we residents of Lewistown participate on Life Chain Sunday every October? Well, for one the presidential record on life is sad.

President Obama has taken his stand, and done so with great zeal. He is committed to the proposition that unborn human beings - members of our species at the earliest developmental stages - merit no moral regard or legal protection and may be dismembered and killed for the convenience of the older, the stronger, the smarter, the independent.

"We the people," for President Obama, does not include the unborn. Our "commitment to others" does not extend to the smallest and most vulnerable. And as we "leave no one behind," Obama is not counting the millions of young human beings for whom he wishes only death and he will not turn back.

We the people believe President Obama needs God's forgiveness and direction. Therefore On October 7, Lewistown residents will meet for the sixth year at 1 p.m. in front of the old Court House on West Market Street, to pray for the President and the Democratic Party, Our prayers will also include changing Obama's position on Roe v. Wade, one of exclusion, discrimination, and the use of violence against the most innocent and defenseless in order to get what we want for ourselves.

This utterly important question - who are "We the People"? - is a big part of what is at stake when we meet on Oct. 7.

After much pressure the Democratic Party included God in their platform. I wonder why they included God while the following intrinsic evils remains the same?

The Affordable Care Act contains intrinsic evils, especially when it fosters abortion and contraception. That's why this administration strengthened Medicare and Medicaid for millions of women and families. And that's why the Affordable Care Act is ending health insurance discrimination against women, and provides women with free access to contraception and abortion if necessary.

The Democratic Party also strongly and unequivocally supports Roe v. Wade and a woman's right to make decisions regarding her pregnancy, including a safe and legal abortion, regardless of ability to pay.

President Obama and Democrats will continue to stand up to Republican efforts to defend Planned Parenthood health centers. The Affordable Care Act ensures that women have access to contraception in their health insurance plans, and the President has not respected the principle of religious liberty. Do Democrats support evidence-based and age-appropriate sex education? Hardly!

In a New York Times story there was confirmation that there was no Obama "accommodation" on mandate in the Affordable Care Act. The story goes on to say, "the most important revelation is about the battle over the Obama mandate to require employers to provide health insurance that covered birth control, regardless of religious and/or moral objections.

Again, the familiar narrative is trotted out-that there were "more centrist" members of the administration who were looking for an accommodation with the Catholic Church. Although the Catholic Church is signaled out, all religions are at jeopardy in losing their freedom.

A report in "Lengthy Study of Denmark Pregnancies Shows Higher Mortality Associated with Abortion than with Birth" By Randall K. O'Bannon, Ph.D. indicates all this "free" intrinsic evil is not good for your health

"A new study out of Denmark that followed a whole nation of women for 24 years found some very different results. If you're a young pregnant woman, it turns out that you're more likely to be alive in 10 years if you give birth to that first baby than if you aborted that child."

It has gotten so bad that the California Senate last week rammed through a bill allowing abortionists to practice without a doctor's license.

We will continue to pray that God will always bless our nation.
