MIFFLINTOWN - James M. Cunningham, 97, of Mifflintown, formerly of Thompsontown, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, at Lewistown Hospital.
Born July 6, 1915, in Walker Township, Juniata County, he was a son of the late John and Estella (Smeal) Cunningham.
He is survived by: his wife, Audrey M. (Sieber) Cunningham, whom he married Nov. 24, 1938; one daughter, Carol L. Arnold and husband, James L., of McAlisterville; two grandchildren, George W. Arnold and wife, Caryn, of Lombard, Ill., and Khristine M. Garcia and husband, Juan, of Mechanicsburg; seven great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Breanna, Kaylee and Mason Arnold and Adrian, Elena and Anna Garcia; and one sister, Dorothy Bird, of Harrisburg.
He was preceded in death by one brother, George S. Cunningham and one sister, Rebecca Burke.
Mr. Cunningham was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II, in the occupation forces in Japan.
He retired from Mertz Ford where he was an automobile salesman.
He was a member of East Salem United Methodist Church and a member of Harrisburg Consistory. He was a 67-year life member of Tennis Lodge 371 F&AM and the Tall Cedars, of Lebanon.
His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at Guss Funeral Home Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with Pastor Joe Yorks officiating. Interment will be in Thompsontown Lutheran Cemetery.
There will be a viewing from 10 a.m. until the time of the services, Saturday, at the funeral home.
