To the editor:
As the new school year approaches, I would like to reflect back on some highlights of the last year. Also bear in mind that it really does take a village. What may seem like a small part really just fits in to making such a huge difference.
We would like to take this opportunity to express our deepest thanks to all of the organizations and businesses for your recent donations for our raffle and kitchen that were so greatly appreciated to our first Indian Valley Elementary Spring Festival. Many thanks go out to students and their families for their generosity and donations as well. The families and teachers as well as some classrooms provided wonderful baked goods for our kitchen and cake wheel. We were touched by the generosity of donors like you. Again many warm thanks to all of you.
Many thanks go out to Somer Weiss who took on the role of chair for the games and activities for the spring festival. It truly was a huge undertaking and I thank her and her family very much. She did an awesome job of keeping everything well organized, fun, and memorable. It was a fun day that will hopefully be the start of a new tradition.
Also, thanks to Robin Knepp who organized all the food donations for the kitchen, which was far larger in numbers then we were used to. Thanks to Michelle McKenney and Gina Himes for their work as the kitchen chairs. And to all the other teacher and family volunteers that helped in one of the areas, with games, activities, as kitchen help, cashing people out, ticket booths, set-up and tear-down, and to everyone that came out to support us that evening.
Many parent volunteers went the extra step to help using vacation days, putting in many long hours, and so forth. Thanks go out to:
And any of the other committee chairs and all the other volunteers and teachers who have been instrumental in many of these activities as well as their own including Earth Day, Beach Day and more.
Most recently there has been a group of teachers, parents, and staff that have helped get the new expanded playground ready for the start before the start of school.
The custodial staff is appreciated for their help in providing areas for storage and any equipment we needed as well as being so flexible with the hours to clean for the evening and lending a hand for our festival and other events for the year. Also thanks to the office staff, Mrs. Kline and Mrs. Benner, for the help they always kindly provided. Thanks to the kitchen staff for their help and for allowing us to use the kitchen during the festival.
Thanks to Mr. LaMarca, who has always gone above and beyond with any help we needed, and for his support throughout the year and his effort to make the school a better place for the students.
And to anyone who may have not been mentioned directly, please do not think your help has gone unnoticed. You have all been a part in making Indian Valley Elementary such a wonderful place for the students. That's something we hope can continue for years to come.
