LEWISTOWN - Richard L. "Dick" Moore, 82, of 50 Long Drive, Lewistown, died at 9:50 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, at his home.
Born Sept. 15, 1929, in Barrville, he was the son of the late Arvad and Lorena (Norris) Moore. He is survived by his wife Joyce (Whiteman) Moore, whom he married on Nov. 4, 1964.
He also is survived by: his daughter, Joan Marie Moore Schmidt and husband, Craig, of Carlisle; grandchildren, Rachel, Logan and Alexis; siblings, Betty Niman, of Mifflintown, Donald "Danny" Moore and wife, Casey, of Lewistown, Janet Warner and husband, Paul, of Yeagertown, Gloria Wagner and husband, Ralph, of Reedsville, and Ronald "Lenny" Moore and wife, Judy, of Reedsville.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Sherman Moore.
Dick was a 1949 graduate of Derry Township High School and was a master sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was also a member of the National Guard from 1953 to Sept. 15, 1989. He was employed as a supervisor in the melt shop at Standard Steel, in Burnham, for 44 years, retiring May 1, 1991.
Dick attended the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Lockport. He was a life member of the VFW Post 7011, Lewistown, a member of the American Legion Post 90 and the Lewistown Masonic Lodge 203.
His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, at the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., with the Rev. Kari Swigart officiating. Interment will be in Lind Memorial Cemetery where graveside military rites will be conducted by the VFW Post 7011.
His family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
