John R. Bailor

EAST WATERFORD - John R. Bailor, 82, of East Waterford, died at 1:40 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at the Locust Grove Retirement Village, in Mifflin.

Born on April 12, 1930, in East Waterford, Juniata County, he was a son of the late John W. and Mary M. (Gray) Bailor. His wife of more than 60 years, Lois M. (McCulloch) Bailor, whom he married on Nov. 3, 1948, preceded him in death on Feb. 2, 2009.

Surviving are: his children, John S. Bailor and his wife, Patricia, of Honey Grove, Karen S. Fultz and her husband, William, of Rising Sun, Md., Robert L. Bailor and his wife, Kathleen, of Honey Grove, Sharon K. Lukens and her husband, Dennis, of McAlisterville, Richard K. Bailor and his wife, Robin, of Shelbyville, Tenn., and Laurie J. Tusing and her husband, Jeff, of Camp Hill; four brothers, David "Andy" Bailor and his wife, Bonnie, of East Waterford, Jay P. Bailor, of Carlisle, Glenn W. Bailor and his wife, Rhoda, and Frank E. Bailor, all of New Bloomfield; one sister, Audrey "Susie" Gray and her husband, Jack, of Mifflin; two brothers-in-law, James Yetter, and Russell Sellers, both of Mifflintown; 16 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

One son, William H. Bailor, four sisters, Marion "Mickey" Yetter and Rose Sellers and two that were in infancy, preceded him in death.

He attended the Faith United Methodist Church, East Waterford.

Until retiring, Mr. Bailor farmed his family farm, as well as owning and operating Bailor Lumber, of East Waterford.

John was an avid race car fan of NASCAR and he sponsored several sprint cars which raced locally at the Port Royal Speedway and other area tracks. With his love of the outdoors he enjoyed hunting and bird watching; however, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially all of his grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with the Rev. Donald C. Walters officiating. Interment will follow in the East Waterford Cemetery.

Viewing will be from 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, until the time of service, at the funeral home.
