BURNHAM - Christopher S. Bishop, 39, of 225 Ninth Ave., Burnham, died at 5:12 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, in the Lewistown Hospital emergency room.
Born Dec. 28, 1972, in Lewistown, he was the son of Carol A. Bishop, of Belleville.
He is survived by: his daughter, Sierra Bishop, of Garner, N.C., his former wife, Maddy Bishop, of Garner, N.C.; and his stepson, Christopher Walters, of Port Royal.
Christopher S. Bishop
Chris was a 1991 graduate of Lewistown High School and was employed as an elevator mechanic at Shindler Elevator Company, in Morristown, N.J., from 2005 to present.
He attended the Bible Baptist Church, in Burnham.
Chris loved to make people laugh, to give joy and he had a loving and caring heart.
In March, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer in its fourth stage. He endured tremendous suffering including broken bones, a port with morphine pump, tubes protruding out both kidneys and drainage bags on each leg with each organ eventually affected by the cancer.
He never complained; instead he would thank everyone who tried to help him and would joke and try to make people laugh. His smile touched all who knew him.
Chris leaves a legacy of great love - the love he showed others and the love his many friends expressed to him.
Chris told his Mom days before his death that he wouldn't be here, but the love remained.
Chris's desire was to be with Jesus, hoping that those who love him will be there with him someday.
His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at the Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., with the Rev. John Walters officiating.
Interment will be in Birch Hill Cemetery, Burnham.
His family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
