HESSTON - The body of a 16-year-old boy who died after jumping off the Susquehannock Island cliffs and into Raystown Lake Saturday, has been recovered, Pennsylvania State Police Huntingdon report.
Police said at around 6 p.m. Saturday, the boy jumped off an approximately 27-foot-high cliff in Penn Township, Huntingdon County and entered the water feet first, but never surfaced.
Police said divers entered the water in attempt to locate the boy, but could not find him. The following day, divers used side scanner sonar in attempt to locate him, but were again unsuccessful. On Tuesday, unmanned submarines were used to locate the boy, and divers were then able to enter the water and recover him, police said.
The investigation remains open pending an autopsy.
