To the editor:
The Lewistown Police Department wishes to express their gratitude to the following businesses and organizations and borough citizens who helped to make National Night Out 2012 a huge success: Juniata Valley Chamber of Commerce, Giant Food Store, Lewistown, Snedeker Oil Company; Harper Brothers Inc, Hartley's Potato Chips, The Trolley Car; Lewistown Welding, G-Man Entertainment, United Fire & Rescue, City Hook & Ladder, Brooklyn Hose Co., FAME EMS, Granville Township Police, The Lewistown Fire Police, Keystone State Muscle Cars Club, Mifflin County Communities That Care, The Abuse Network; Lewistown Community Block Watch Groups, the Lewistown Recreation Board, Public Works, and the Borough of Lewistown.
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
The Lewistown Police Department appreciates the community support and those in attendance at the event; as well as those who turned on their porch lights. It is the combined efforts of all participants and attendees that strengthens our care and concern for our community and each other.
